News Ticker

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, Thor, which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Thor opens May 6, 2011.

2 Comments on TRAILER: Thor

  1. I’m a lifelong (40 some years) comic book fan, who mostly knew Thor from Avengers comics.

Recently I read through the Marvel Masterworks collection of Lee/Kirby’s original Thor run. It started off a bit goofy and honestly not all that all great, but then Lee and Kirby figured out how to do Thor, and it becomes a bloody brilliant run. I’m now a HUGE Thor fan, thanks to some 30 year old comics.

The turning point of the Lee/Kirby series hits when they start the backup storyline of the “Tales of Asgard” which is now collected and re-colored in a new single volume, which I highly recommend to all readers.

This movie looks fantastic! I’m guessing it’s going to be the best Marvel movie yet. Can’t wait to see it!

  2. It looks surprisingly good. I am definitely more interested in seeing this than Green Lantern.
