Interactive SciFi and Fantasy Convention Map for 2011

Looking for a convention near you? A place to hang out and get your SciFi on in 2011?

So was I. Locus Online has a great resource for just such a situation. So does Wikipedia. But they don’t really give you a sense of where the cons are in relation to you.

So I built a Convention Map using Google’s My Places feature

Click the blue markers for details including: Convention Name, Dates and a link to the Conventions Website.

Now – if you have a local con that isn’t listed on this map, I’d like to know about it. Add a web link and/or some details in the comments section and I’ll see about adding them to this Map.

FWIW, the most complete convention index I found seemed to be Ansible’s. You might find some additional cons there:

  3. Fwiw, I believe Patrick was only focusing on conventions that have yet to occur in 2011.

  4. Please Note that the osfes con is later in July.

Sept 30th – Oct 2nd in Council Blufs Iowa, great con with a ton of tradition. Almost entirely a gaming con, tons of fun. April 13th – 15th, they are chaning locations because their first event was bursting at the seams, it was great fun. A gaming convention.

There is a local, mostly boardgaming, and entirely a gaming con called Beddes Con that is for a certain persons birthday in west Omaha every January. That con is great fun, only a single day, but boy what fun. Note there may be two this year, his son’s birthday. Check out yahoo groups for that one. is mostly a scifi con, is is comming up in July 22nd-24th in Omaha. It has a small but dedicated gaming section. David Weber is going to be there this year! Woot! was just last month. It was a ton of fun. The gaming was fun, not as big as bedes or nuke or pretz, but fun.

FanExpo Canada, in Toronto, August 25-28, 2011.

700+ exhibits, 400,000+ square feet, events including five genres (possibly six, as steampunk has a growing presence): comic, anime, sci-fi, horror, and gaming. Easily accessible by transit, in downtown Toronto.

    And plenty of costumes…

  9. Hi, I’d like to point you at two conventions based in the Tampa Bay area.

Necro Game Day – a one day gaming convention on July 16th – website

Necronomicon – a 3 day science fiction/fantasy/horror/gaming convention (this is our 30th year) on October 21-23rd – website

We are a not for profit group and we raise funds for local charities. All the information can be found on our websites.

    Thanks! Great site!

  11. Thanks for posting Pure Speculation.  Slight correction needed to my other convention listing. It’s  “When Words Collide”,  not “When Worlds Collide”.  An honest mistake <g>.
