TRAILER: The Thing (2011)

Here’s the first trailer for the The Thing, the second remake of The Thing From Another World…the first being John Carpenter’s iconic film which, by the looks of this trailer, greatly influenced the filmmakers.

  2. Looks like pretty much a direct remale of the John Carpenter version with updated effects…. should be fun. πŸ™‚

Looks good, but unnecessary.  Here’s the thing….with a story like this, where the previous version already has its status and where the story lends itself so easily to being continued, why not do a sequel instead of a remake?  That way you add to the mythos rather than suffering in comparison to the version that’s being remade.  The brand identity would still be there if this was “Just One More Thing” (or somesuch), and you could hook the new viewers as well as those who loved the Carpenter version.

    Actually…how great would it have been to do a sequel called “Just One More Thing” starring Peter Falk?  Well, in my head, anyway.

  5. If I had never seen the Carpenter production, this would look sooo cool.  Since I have seen it, I can’t help wondering, is there anything original here?
