Weekend Playlist: New Geek Music

There’s been a bit of a flood of some new geek music on the internets lately, and a roundup is in order!

(I’m the One That’s) Cool, The Guild

Felicia Day has recently launched a Geek and Sundry channel on Youtube, and in the first wave of material that’s been posted is this song, which has been caught in my head all week. It’s catchy, entertaining, and I’m guessing that it’ll be particularly relevant to a lot of geeks out there. You can download the track over on iTunes.

Do Your Fucking Dishes, James Sutter

This hit the web a couple of months ago, but it’s excellently done: James Sutter is one of the editors for Paizo, the company that publishes Pathfinder. It’s an entertaining song, and you can download it here.

I Wanna Live In A World Full Of Heroes, Kirby Krackle

Kirby Krackle has recently released a new video off of their last album, Superpowered Love. This one’s slick, a break from their usual animated videos, and is a high energy and entertaining affair!

The Empire State, John Anealio

SF Signal friend John Anealio is back with a new song that he’s been working on, a track about Adam Christopher’s debut novel Empire State. Dark, moody, this is another great song from John! Download it for free here!

Sympathy for the Daleks, Nerds With Guitars

Kirby Krackle pointed Nerds With Guitars out recently – this is their first EP, which you can get here. These guys have a great, clean sound that reminds me of a favored band of mine, Ryanhood. I have a feeling that these guys will be worth keeping an eye on!

The World of the Dinosaurs, Symphony of Science

Last up for this week is the fantastic Symphony of Science and John Boswell, taking on a new topic: Dinosaurs! This is another in a great set of autotuned songs, featuring Alice Roberts, Bill Nye, Nigel Marvin, Dallas Campbell and more! You can download all of the tracks here.

  1. Wow! Thanks so much for including us in such august company…we really appreciate it. Also loved the fact that you consider our sound “clean” – we can be pretty crass if you meet us in person 🙂
