Free eBook: “Daughter of Elysium” by Joan Slonczewski

Phoenix Pick is continuing their “Free eBook-a-Month” promotion! This month, it’s Joan Slonczewski’s Daughter of Elysium!

(Note: this book was offered for free as Phoenix Pick’s very first free ebook more than two years ago. However, because of the limited nature of the program then, it had few downloads at the time. Phoenix Pick is
offering this outstanding book for free once more.)

About the book:

The pristine city of Elysium floats on the water world of Shora, inhabited by ‘immortals’ who have succeeded in unlocking the secrets of life.

Outsider Blackbear Windclan wants to share the secret of immortality with his own people, but can he, and the City of Elysium, survive the corruption and decadence that immortality has bred into the ageless society?

And what of the consciousness of self-aware nano-sentient servitors and their quest for vengeance?

“An enormously impressive achievement…A marvelous array of cultures presented in astonishing depth”—Kirkus Review

“A thoughtful, well-crafted novel”—Publishers Weekly

“Masterful story”—Library Journal

“Magnificently detailed”—Chicago Sun Times

Instructions and download/purchase links at Phoenix Pick’s catalogue page. The Coupon Code for the free eBook is 9991545 and is only good between July 2nd – July 31, 2012.

They are also offering a free download of Carolyn Ives Gilman’s Hugo and Nebula nominated novella “The Ice Owl” (see bottom of the “Daughter of Elysium” download page).

  2. Joan’s a good and interesting writer. Met her at a con last year.
