VIDEO: Ursula K. Le Guin on “Earthsea” Cycle’s New Look in the Latest Reprints
Ursula K. Le Guin’s classic Earthsea cycle is being reprinted by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Simon & Schuster:
- A Wizard of Earthsea
- The Tombs of Atuan
- The Farthest Shore
- Tehanu
- Tales from Earthsea
- The Other Wind
Here’s a brand new video of Ms. Le Guin talking about the series…
[via Andrew Porter, who notes that these reprints do not contain “The Rule of Names” which he published in Le Guin’s Dreams Must Explain Themselves]
Is it me or do these covers look too Narnia-esque? Going to Earthsea always felt like a somber experience…these covers are vibrant.
I can see the Game of Thrones influence in the covers, with the focus on a single, powerful image. I prefer my 1984 copies with the beautiful cover illustrations by Yvonne Gilbert.
