What’s special about today’s free fiction?
- Omni Reboot has a science fiction story from David Hopper
If there were more room in the cockpit of the Low October, Dr. Jonas Hengist would be pacing. Instead, he must settle for shifting his weight in glitchy artificial gravity, watching, for the second time in his life, the pale curve of Europa rise in the main viewer, the clouds of Jupiter looming large beyond. He feels the crew’s eyes on him. Jonas runs his tongue over chapped lips; it has been months since his feet have touched soil.
– “They All Looked Like Nails”
- Weird Fiction Review has a dark and weird story from V.H. Leslie
Paper, scissors, rock.
That’s the way we’ve always made decisions. And settled arguments for that matter. Marriage is all about compromise after all; I put something forward, he puts something forward, and our hands do the rest. My husband jokes if only diplomacy were so easy. When we play we are back in the playground of St. Gabriel’s again, with the Catholic sisters hurrying us in opposite directions towards the boys and girls dormitories and my husband is my darling childhood Teddy.
