Several new trailers dropped last week, let’s take a look!
Kingsman: The Secret Service‘s release date has been moved from 2014 to 2015, then back to 2014 and is now currently Feb. 13th, 2015. Based on the Mark Millar/Dave Gibbons comic, The Secret Service stars Colin Firth as a James Bond type spy working for a super-secret spy agency that protects the world from global threats. Like Samuel L. Jackson in a sideways cap for instance. It certainly looks intriguing to me.
Big Hero 6 is based on a little-known Marvel comic property concerning a team of Japanese superheroes. Whereas the first trailer gave us a taste of the film, showing the main character and Baymax (who looks like a Shmoo all grown up), this one gives us more of the story. I’m calling it now: the bad guy is Hamada’s brother. Big Hero 6 is a break from the more “serious” comic book movies and for that reason alone I think it’s worth watching. Marvel animated movie universe anyone? For those who care, the song is “Top of the World” by Greek Fire.
Watch this in HD and go full screen. Seriously, it looks freaking amazing. But I can’t shake the feeling the Wachowskis are the following in M. Night Shamalan’s footsteps and are riding the coattails of one big movie. The bad guys whispery lines are supposed to be menacing but come off cheesy, like the rest of the movie (except the visuals). I don’t have high for this one, though I’m thinking this is something that needs to be seen on the big screen, but with an alternate audio track.
Oh boy here we go again. Let’s just agree that the tech in the movie is going to be totally overblown and ridiculously unbelievable. Which leaves us with the characters to hang our hats on. Chris Hemsworth has a mighty Norse god? Yes. Hemsworth as a genius computer hacker? Very unsure. Could he be the Christmas Jones of this movie? Could be. Even though this can’t possibly be worse than Scorpion (can it??), I see this as a “catch it on Netflix” movie.
Predestination is based on the Heinlein short story “All You Zombies”, which automatically makes it interesting. The trailer does nothing to temper my interest, in fact I think it looks great. Let us hope they don’t change the story too much. Talk about blowing the minds of the general viewing public!
