Catching Up on SciFi Movies (Part 27): Thor: The Dark World / Captain America: The Winter Soldier / Epic
Continuing a trend tailor-made for the Twitter generation, here are my quick takes on a few recently-watched genre-related films.
My brief thoughts follow…
Thor: The Dark World (2013) – I liked this sequel better than the first film, mostly because it seemed more epic in scope. And there were a couple of neat plot twists that kept it interesting.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) – I am now officially caught up on Marvel superhero films, and this was one of the best ones, almost on par with The Avengers. There was a lot going on in this one: intrigue, betrayal, security vs. free speech, rogue AI…in that respect, it was a nicely layered story akin to The Dark Knight (though not was well executed).
Epic (2013) – Sure, it was perhaps a bit predictable, but this was good family fun and worth the watch.
