Ready for some new trailers? I knew you were!
Neil Blomkamp returns to the big screen with his take on artificial intelligence and Huge Jackman’s response to it. I’m sure it will be more nuanced, but this trailer makes me think Short Circuit for the 21st Century, only minus Steve Guttenberg.
The concluding film the overlong Hobbit trilogy drops this December. I saw the first, skipped the second and am ambivalent about the the third, though it does look impressive. Does anyone else think Thorin (Richard Armitage) looks like Mel Gibson as Mad Max? Just me? And I have to wonder, now that Jackson appears done with bringing Tolkein to the screen, will New Zealand be relegated to airplane safety videos for the foreseeable future?
Oh look, yet another movie dealing with A.I. and robots, this time from Alex Garland, the writer of 28 Days Later and Sunshine, so there’s some hope this won’t be a derivative take on the whole thing. Though from the trailer, I’m expecting the human test subject to turn out to be a robot.
I was skeptical when the first trailer dropped and while this one makes the show seem a bit more interesting, I can’t help but notice SyFy is taking it in a more concrete, this definitely happened direction, whereas the movie made you wonder whether Cole was really a time traveler or just insane. I’ll certainly watch the first few episodes. Who knows, it could be watchable, if not great, like Helix.
