Say What? Amazon is Reviving “Sigmund and the Sea Monsters”
Sigmund and the Sea Monsters was, I am sad to say as an adult, a television show I watched when I was but an impressionable youth. And yet it lives on in a nostalgic corner of my heart co-occupied with H.P. Pufnstuf and Wonderbug. Even so, I’ve got to say it is with mixed feelings to learn that Amazon is reviving Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. Is there any way this is a good idea?
You’ll see what I mean when you watch this vintage episode. Pay attention kids, this is what passed for entertainment back in 1973.
I’m not sure Sid & Marty Kroft’s oeuvre of “cheaply produced TV shows that amount to bad acid trips for kids” really needs to be replicated in 2015…
Succinct and astute as always, Lawrence. 🙂
*sigh* Sid and Marty Krofft, Filmation, Hanna Barbera. All remembered very fondly. I think I can blame Pacuni for my fascination with conlang. If it were animated, it might be fun. Beats Hannah Montana anyday . . .
And for years past 1973, in syndication…I watched the lot of Sid and Mary Kroft’s oeuvre…
