Well, bummer. A couple of those Tor/Forge author events are happening locally, but on dates and times I can’t attend. I think this must be a variation on Murphy’s Law.
Another Murphy’s variation, for short story writers, is that “open submission” anthologies will always be themed around subjects you have absolutely no knowledge, experience, or interest in. Or, another Murphy subset, will be something you have a perfect — *PERFECT!* — piece for, but are already closed to submissions by the time you hear about the anthology.
