Saturday Morning TV: Ark II (1976 Pilot Episode)

From YouTube:

Ark II is an American live-action science fiction series, aimed at children, that aired on CBS, beginning and ending in 1976, as part of its Saturday morning line-up. Only 15 half-hour episodes of Ark II were ever produced; however, these episodes were re-run by the CBS television network for several years.

Here’s the pilot episode. Keep your eyes peeled for Jonathan Harris from Lost in Space!

The spoiled brats of today do not understand what poop we had to watch on children’s television back in the 1970s.

Not poop. ‘Ark II’ was awesome! A talking chimp. A jetpack! This show was great! I never missed an episode. Even bought it on DVD a few years ago and sat down to watch all the episodes with a big bowl of Captain Crunch. Imagine the toys this show would have spawned if it had been on the air just two years later: post ‘Star Wars’.

  3. This brings back memories! Certainly by today’s standards the show’s production value doesn’t hold up. Still, it’s environmental message is eerily prescient – and is even more relevant now.
