HALLOWEEN TUNE: Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of the Worlds

H.G. Wells classic science fiction novel The War of the Worlds has been adapted into many different forms: films, tv, games and of course including Orson Welles’ famous 1938 Halloween radio edition. I haven’t seen most of these, but I can still guarantee none of them rock as hard as Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of the Worlds.

Released in 1978, Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of the Worlds is a progressive rock opera album re-telling of the story. This version itself has spawned all kinds of versions including a live concert tour. I’ve never heard it before until recently and I really, really like this. And since it’s Halloween, it seems like a good time to post it for everyone to enjoy.

And if you have Amazon Prime, the album is free to stream as much you like!

  1. Thanks! Had this on cassette as a kid but completely forgot about it. It’s been fun getting reacquainted, particularly with the Forever Autumn and Thunder Child segments.
