  1. They’re not going to tell that old story that only a few decades after a cataclysmic event, no one remembers what happened? That’s like people acting like Jedi are some ancient legend only 20 years after the fall of the Republic.

  2. It makes some sense though. Why would all of the planets from the Old Republic want to jump right into an now-noncanon-EU-type New Republic when that system is what lead to the Empire in the first place?

    It would make sense for the galaxy to go back to planets fending for themselves, and on planets not really involved in the front lines of the Galactic Civil War, it would make sense for the next generation to not really know anything about the heroes of the GCU.

    And it was pretty well established in Episodes IV, V, and VI that most people at that point, one generation removed from the fall of the Jedi Council, thought the Force was just some ancient, hokey religion, so that lines up.
