Sunday Cinema: Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet (1965)


In Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet, the year is 2020 and the atronauts on the first manned trip to Venus discover a prehistoric world. But danger looms everywhere! The crew are attacked by various monsters and plants.

Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet, directed by Curtis Harrington (using the pseudonym John Sebastian), is an American adaption and edited version of the Soviet science fiction movie Planeta Bur (Planet of the Storms) which was directed by Pavel Klushantsev. For the American version, Harrington filmed extra scenes featuring Basil Rathbone and American actors. This edit of the film also forms the basis of Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women, another edition of Planeta Bur.
